Inspection of Electrical Systems

Thermal infrared imaging is used in the inspection of electrical systems to check for faulty connections, overloaded circuits, and other possibly dangerous electrical flow problems. Measuring the heat output of various parts of a system can show where the system is weak, faulty or overheating thereby permitting repairs before the system breaks down. Power companies use infrared imaging to detect faulty connections in transformers and substations. Infrared imaging is also widely used in the computer industry for the testing of PC boards.
