Frozen in Liquid Nitrogen
Before Peas Are Added
After Peas Are Added
Even though these peas were frozen, they glow brightly in the infrared compared
with the extremely cold liquid nitrogen. The liquid nitrogen is actually much
colder than what is indicated on the temperature scale (which shows the
lower limit detectable by the camera). In space, many objects are very cold,
but glow very brightly in the infrared compared with the extremely cold
background of space.
