Infrared Chickens |
|
|
Chickens are warm-blooded birds and generate their own body heat by converting the food that they eat into energy. In the thermal infrared images shown below, you can see the bright glow of these warm-blooded animals from areas which are not covered with thick, insulating feathers, such as their face, legs and feet. Some of these chickens were in the warm sunlight before entering their shaded shelter, causing the feathers on their backs to also glow brightly in the infrared.
