Infrared Zoo Gallery - Elephants

Infrared Elephants

These elephants were out in the sun on a warm day (the air temperature was about 75 degrees). Elephants are warm-blooded and put out their own heat. Also, the elephants skin was warmed by sunlight. The warmest areas are the parts of the elephants bodies which were in direct sunlight. Notice how cool the tip of the elephant's trunk is after being in the water.
